Dimples are considered as one of the most attractive and charming spots on your face which can make your smile sweeter. The reason why dimples are not appeared on everyone’s face is because it’s genetic. That is, if your parents have dimples, you have a chance to have ones up to 50%. Normally, there are 2 types of dimples consisting of chin and cheek dimples. Some have both cheeks but some have just only one.
Anatomically, dimples are caused by the facial muscle called zygomaticus major. Dimples are caused when your facial muscle – zygomaticus major, is shorter than normal which pulls on your skin and forms the indentation in your facial skin. Cheek dimples are formed by the double or bifid zygomaticus major muscle.
